Dear Friends of Ayuda,

How much does a day cost?

What can you do with a day? Is there one day that changes everything?

For Margarita and her children, September 27 was a miracle day. That was the day the Free Legal Clinic at Ayuda saved her home from foreclosure. August 25 was a day of relief for Carmen when she was told that Ayuda provided an after school program and her 2 children would have a safe place to go after school while she worked.  Each day Ayuda helps make life in Hunting Park better. What is that worth to you?

For the past several years Ayuda has been going through a time of financial drought. The poor economic conditions have multiplied, as foundations have also had to cut back on their giving. We want to ensure stability and be financially responsible to our stakeholders.

A day of running Ayuda costs $248 more than what we have been able to raise on a regular basis. In order to alleviate the shortfall in our general operating budget we need “April Showers.” We are very much like a tree in desperate need of water and nourishment. Will you help bring rain to Ayuda?

Ayuda is a donor dependent organization. It depends on Rainmakers like you who believe in our mission and in God’s transforming work here in Hunting Park. Rainmakers are people who have seen the vision of Ayuda and said “Yes! I want to be a part of that.”

Here’s the future you will help assure:

• A community that experiences justice even when they cannot afford a lawyer
• Works of Art that beautify and unite the community
• A generation of children and youth who are free to pursue their educational and artistic dreams
• A secure financial base that allows Ayuda to work and dream with our neighbors

You’ve already helped expand the Community Arts Program as it moved next door into the Orange Korner Arts house and is offering more youth arts courses and adult workshops. You’ve helped children and youth pursue education and build stable relationships through the SOS After School Program and Summer Day Camp. You’ve helped our neighbors see Christ in action through the many people who work and volunteer here.

God is doing so many wonderful things through Ayuda and we cannot afford to fail. Children and families rely on our daily presence and services in the community. So I’m asking you to help by investing $248 in a day of Ayuda’s future.

As we ask for help you may be wondering whether we have done our part in spending wisely and cutting back. I am confident we have done this. We have trimmed our administrative expenses by paring down and our staff continues to work for very modest wages. We do this because we believe in the mission of Ayuda, in what God is doing here and we are willing to sacrifice in order to be a part of it.

Great expectations demand Rainmakers. Rainmakers like us. Rainmakers like you. So please help us raise the money to keep our doors open. It only costs $248 a day and we are asking you to sponsor one of these days.

If you can do more, buy as many days as you’d like. Buy a day in honor of someone you love. Or buy a week with some of your friends. What day will your day be? Will you help nourish the tree that is Ayuda in this time of drought?
