YOUTH IN HUNTING PARK CAST A VISION FOR THEIR FUTURE
Ten banners hang in Hunting Park depicting symbols created by the art students at Ayuda’s Orange Korner Arts (OKA). These ten symbols are the product of the hard work of over 50 teenagers taking art classes at the OKA House asking questions about their future: Who do you want to be? What career are you interested in? What kind of person do you want to be? How do you want to be remembered by those who knew you? Through a year long process of collecting specific words and symbols, the students at the OKA House chose these ten to represent their vision for their future and the future of Hunting Park. The Graphic Design students fine tuned the symbols now displayed in the park and teens spent the summer designing and sewing the banners for the current installation. The banners will hang through November 11, 2011.

Upcoming Event: On October 14th, the OKA teens will present the ImmaBe Banner project to Ayuda Community Center’s Support Our Students (S.O.S.) after school program which enrolls 60 children ranging from K-5th grades. They will then lead the children on a community walk to the park where the banners are hung and walk through the park to admire their work. The teens at the OKA House wish to inspire the younger children to cast vision for their own future and understand that the future of their neighborhood depends on their choices about who they want to be!
